Day 6: Shopping and more tinfoil...

Today was a pretty relaxed day. I was tired so slept in and then went shopping for more supplies (floorboards and nails -- my constant companions these days -- and oh the tinfoil bubble wrap stuff too, how could I forget that?)

But of course being pre-holiday weekend, took forever to get through the traffic and queues so didn't get back home till 4ish. Paula made a great Spanish paella, so tucked into that!

Played around with the tinfoil and foil tape for a few hours sealing all the little gaps. Managed to get rid of just about all trace of any drafts. Should make the room nice and cosy... Happy to report that I'm now done with the insulation job and now its back to the less fiddly work.

Had a visitor too!

Its worth noting that there has been no heating in this room all week except for the halogen lamp, and with the insulation I can comfortably wear a t-shirt!

Then mapped out the fireplace shape on the wall and measured out the dimensions of the hearth so tomorrow morning I can cut the floorboard to fit.

Here's a preview of the fireplace we ordered. Its an antique, removed from the halls of residence at a Cambridge University. Circa 1875. It should arrive early next week..

If anybody is looking for a great antique fireplace shop my favourite is The Antique Fireplace Company where we bought this specimen.

That's it for today.

also dont cover up the gap in the wall before you check out where the cat is. Ha Ha but has happened before.
